A Designer’s Guide to Mother’s Day: 10 Gifts of Quiet Luxury & Intentional Living

By Fatma Tekeci — Founder & Principal Designer

Hi,

Mother’s Day is coming, and I’ve been thinking a lot about my mom lately. Being a daughter living far from my family makes this time feel especially emotional.

I’m a mom too… and still a daughter. Somewhere between those two roles, I became a designer. Because my mom was the first person who showed me that a home is never just four walls.

It’s the small things.

The way she’s cared for the plant I gave her… for years.

The way she kept and displayed every little gift I gave her as a child. Sleeping under the heavy blanket she made by hand.

Our conversations over slow Sunday breakfasts. And those late-night walks to the little ice cream shop in our neighborhood.

She showed me that these quiet details… are actually love. So, this year, I put together something simple. A small Mother’s Day guide—just ten ideas. Some to give, some to share together. Nothing complicated. Just things I would naturally tell a friend… how they feel, why they matter, and why I think they might mean something to you too.

With love,

Fatma

Things to Do Together

1. Fragrance Workshop

Honestly? Just thinking about this one makes me happy.

Imagine spending a whole afternoon with your mom, surrounded by tiny bottles, mixing scents until you find the one that is her. Laughing when something smells terrible. Getting quiet when something smells perfect.

If someone gave me this with my own mom, I would cry a little. In a good way.

2.Canvas Masterclass

I love this one because it is slow.

No pressure, no skill needed, just you and your mom, hands a little dusty, making something beautiful together. I always feel calmer after a class like this. And the best part? You both go home with a real piece of art for your home. Something she made. Something you made, together.

3. Floral Arrangement

I get emotional about this one, I will not lie.

There is something about standing next to your mom, picking out flowers, deciding which branch goes where ,it feels like the kind of morning you will remember forever. Slow, soft, a little bit magical.

And she keeps the arrangement on her kitchen table for a week and smiles every time she walks past it.

4. Tickets to the San Francisco Decorator Showcase

This one is my personal favorite. If your mom loves beautiful homes like we do, you will have the best day. Walk through the rooms. Talk about what you love. Argue a little about the wallpaper. Go for a long lunch after.

I promise, you will learn something new about her. That feeling, of seeing your mom as a whole person, not just your mom, is honestly priceless.

Soft Things for the Home

5. Nera Yarn Dye Jacquard Striped Quilt (or Gingham Ruffle Yarn-Dyed Cotton Quilt)

I have a soft spot for a beautiful quilt. I think it is because my mom used to make our quilts by hand, and it always made feel heartfelt while sleeping.

These are soft, a little heavy, so pretty. The jacquard stripe feels calm and grown-up. The gingham ruffle feels sweet and happy. Pick whichever one feels more like her.

Whenever she tucks into bed with it, she will feel a little more taken care of. That is the whole idea.

6. A Pure Cashmere Throw in Camel or Charcoal

This is the one I would buy if I wanted her to feel hugged, even when I am not there.

A real cashmere throw feels like nothing else. You fold it over her reading chair or at the end of her bed, and she will reach for it every single evening. Every time she does, she will think of you.

I get a little emotional thinking about it, actually.

Little Things that Make a Home Feel Special

7. Mari Stoneware Wall Vase

This one just makes me smile.

It is handmade, earthy, a little imperfect in the most beautiful way. Hang it alone and it looks like sculpture. Put one dried branch inside and it looks like quiet, gentle art.

If your mom loves pieces with soul ,pieces that feel made, not mass-produced ,she will love this. Little things that make a home feel special

8. The Bistro Tile Stoneware Dessert Plate: Garden Edition

Okay, I love this one so much.

My mom always believed a small dessert deserves a pretty plate ,and I think about that all the time. This plate has that same energy. A little French café, a little garden, a little sweet.

Imagine her pulling it out on a random Tuesday for one slice of cake. For a peach. For a square of chocolate with her coffee. It is the kind of gift that makes small moments feel special. And that, to me, is real love.

9. MacKenzie-Childs Rosy Check Heart Pendant Clock

This one is a little extra. And I love it for that.

Amidst all the clean lines and modern minimalism, I am a firm believer that every room needs one piece that just makes you smile. This hand-painted, blush-toned clock is pure, whimsical craftsmanship. It’s unexpected, and that’s exactly why it works so beautifully.

10. Color Consultation from Studio LUNAREY

This might sound small but hear me out.

A good design book is a gift that keeps giving. She will open it on quiet Sunday mornings, with a cup of coffee, and just… breathe. Those moments matter more than we think. To make it even more special, we’ve paired it with a professional interior color consultation—giving her a designer's eye to help curate her sanctuary for her next chapter.

One last thing, from me to you. This Mother's Day, please do not overthink it. The gift matters a little. The time together matters a lot. Call her. Sit with her. Make something together. Tell her the things you usually forget to say. And if you are a mom reading this ,I see you. You are doing so much more than you know. I hope someone spoils you this year. You deserve it.

With love from our studio to your home,
